The ABL Bullets' name has a long history, originating in the American Basketball League. The ABL was the first shot at creating a major professional basketball league in the US, and included nine of the best independent professional teams from the East and Midwest. The ABL Bullets played briefly from 1944-47 at the Baltimore Coliseum, an indoor arena on the corner of Monroe Street and Windsor Avenue near the once vibrant and thriving Pennsylvania Avenue in the heart of Baltimore City.
